Recently, it is learnt from Tibet Changdu Development and Reform Commission that Yulong Copper Mine with the largest reserves in China has undergone project approval of National Development and Reform Commission. This marks Yulong Copper Mine steps in comprehensive construction stage officially.
Yulong Copper Mine, located in Jiangda County along Jinsha River in Changdu region, is a composite porphyry-skarn copper mine with the largest recoverable deposits in China currently. Its preliminarily proved copper reserves are over 6,500,000t and prospective reserves up to 10,000,000t. Currently, acid leaching yard and 110 KV line in copper mine Phase I works have been basically completed and focus will be attached to construction of mining and acid making plant next year.
It is reported that Tibet Autonomous Region Government and Aluminum Corporation of China signed a frame agreement about cooperation in mineral resource field in March this year. It plans to invest 500 million to 1 billion yuan in building a mining enterprise with international level in Tibet, with Changdu as one of the key development regions. Therefore, Aluminum Corporation of China will launch 5-year system exploration in Changdu region, i.e. launch large scale mineral resource prospecting work in the whole region.
